From an experienced user of alcantara seats, the good things are: -
a) it does not fade easily, my 4 y/o still look good and new;
b) it is easily clean, just a wet cloth would clean whatever stain;
c) it would not burn your butt under the hot sun, suprisingly, you do not feel the heat when parked under hot sun. I guess that is why it is used in Japan so that during winter, it won't be ice cold.
d) it does not seem to absolve dirt although it is not water repellant, there is no smell like the normal fabric seats.
